Welcome to Blacklightbirdy, where art and ritual intertwine. Handpoking is an ancient method of tattooing that feels incredibly intentional and personal to me. I made the choice to ditch my machine in the summer of 2024, and never looked back. Since then, my work has expanded from small and illustrative pieces, to large scale projects spanning head to toe.

In addition to having a strong background in calligraphy, I am heavily inspired by Mesoamerican art in all forms. Specifically, the traditional textiles and pottery of central and southern Mexico (which were also created without machines). My heritage is something I embrace through tattooing, and I believe in preserving the dying arts.
